A guide for homeowners

How online landscape design works

A good landscape starts with a clear plan. Designscape brings your property information, outdoor goals, hardscape, and planting into one coordinated design that you can review from home.

Explore your design package

1. Choose the space and scope you want designed

Start with the package builder on our homepage. Choose the project area and review any optional plans before secure checkout. Think about how you want to use the space: dining, relaxing, entertaining, gardening, or making everyday access easier.

2. Share what makes your property yours

After checkout is verified, your project is created. Add your address, goals, style preferences, priorities, photos, and inspiration in your private project space. Share a survey if you have one, and explain what should stay, what should change, and the installation budget you have in mind.

Useful photos show the whole outdoor area, the house facing the garden, access routes, existing planting, slopes, and features you want to keep. Mention drainage concerns, utilities, and restrictions you know about. Existing property information helps guide the concept; it does not replace a site survey or verification by your installation professionals.

3. Coordinate hardscape and planting

The core package brings together a custom hardscape design and a planting plan. Hardscape establishes the outdoor layout, paths, and built features. Planting adds the living structure, character, and seasonal interest around that layout.

Your exact drawing set depends on your property, goals, and selected services. We confirm the included scope before design work begins. Specialty plans are optional additions, not automatically included in the core price.

4. Review and refine in your homeowner portal

Use the private portal to follow progress, review concepts, give feedback, request revisions, and find the latest project files. Point out how the proposal fits your priorities and where it needs adjustment before approving each stage.

What does online landscape design cost?

The core Designscape package costs $2,500 total, paid in four $625 payments. The first $625 payment starts your project. The remaining payments follow hardscape approval, planting approval, and final signoff.

Optional plans cost $250 each and increase the project total and payments. The package builder shows your selected scope and payment amounts before checkout. Adding an optional plan does not keep your first payment at the core-only $625 amount.

5. Plan installation with the professionals you choose

Use the finished design package to discuss priorities, phasing, estimates, and installation with your contractor. Construction and materials are separate from the design fee. You contract with and pay the installation professionals directly.

Before building, have the appropriate professionals verify site measurements, property boundaries, utilities, local requirements, and any engineering or permits needed for the proposed work. The design process is a starting point for those conversations, not a substitute for them.

Is an online process right for you?

It can be a good fit if you want a coordinated direction before investing in installation and are comfortable sharing property information and reviewing plans online. If your property has unusual constraints, describe them early so the scope and next steps can be discussed.
